It’s the start of a new month, and for those of you following this blog, you know that means it’s time for another Novel Progress report.
Not as much progress as I would like, I’m afraid. July was a difficult month, and Ramadan started, which is the least productive month in Islam :p Seriously, you try fasting from 3am to 630PM and get anything done :p
In any case, I’m about two chapters away from my mid-point event, so I’m not too vexed.
Word Count as per the last update was at 41,330; it now stands at 47,597, which gives me an addition of 6,267, which is about half the progress I made in June.
In other news, I’m inundated with the love here! The awesome Delancey Stewart has gifted me with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award! Thanks, Delancey!
Rules:
- Link back to the person who nominated you. Done

As part of the rules, we have to nominate 15 other bloggers! Good Lord, that’s a lot!
MJGriffor of Novels from the ground up for always having such interesting posts, in addition to novel updates which motivate me to make progress on my own stuff.
William Stadler of Stadler Style: He’s a novelist who enjoys connecting with other writers. All his posts contain helpful tips regarding various writing issues, such as scene construction, plotting, creating tension, characterization etc. I highly recommend you follow him if you’re looking for short and snappy posts on writing.
Jennifer Eaton: Hers is a fun blog with a lot of interesting and entertaining posts about her journey to getting published. She calls her blog “A Reference of Writing Rants for Writers or “Learn from My Mistakes.”” And it is just that
Check it out if you’re looking for sympathy in your writing struggles :p
J.C. Martin of Fighter Writer has her debut novel coming out now. She also has interesting posts on a variety of topics, from author spotlights to giveaways to writing tips.
J. Keller Ford Young Adult Fantasy Author: She’s a writer with a story to be published in an anthology towards the end of the year. She’s very supportive of other writers, and is always full of encouragement and sympathy ![]()
J.R. Whitener: Another fellow writer who has insightful posts on the craft of writing, and publishing options. He also has an interesting way of viewing things that never fails to spark my creativity.

Lori’s Lane for having such wonderfully-varied posts, and for being such a supportive follower.
Okay, might have to stop there… Can’t think anymore, especially since I’m only on my first cup of coffee :p
Thanks again, Delancey!

I am so with you on loving travel but hating the process! Seeing new places is so fun and exciting, but the process of getting there is often frustrating, exhausting, and/or boring. The quote I have scheduled for this week’s Quotable Friday is actually about traveling; in it, travel writer Paul Theroux extolls the joys of traveling by train versus car or airplane.
Oh, and thanks for the nomination!
Amazing how many of your nominees I already follow. It may be 100% soon! Congrats to you!
Thanks for the nom! By the way, I moved my new site to Blogger and the web address is authorheather.com. I feel like July was way unproductive for me too, but def ready to increase that word count!
